A woman in Dubois escaped an attempted abduction and rape Over the weekend. According to our news partners at 10 News, the 39-year-old woman was walking on South Main Street near Rumbarger Cemetery when a van or SUV had pulled up beside her. Dubois police say that A man had grabbed her off the sidewalk and forced her into the vehicle. The victim also said that her abductor got on top of her and ripped off her clothes. Police say she was able to fight back and escape her attacker. Police do not have a description of the attacker at this time, but they are asking women not to walk alone after dark.

A Crash on Interstate 80 in Washington Township has left one Person injured. Dubois-Based State Police say that Edward Byas of Milwalkee was going east on I-80 when he swerved his commercial truck to avoid hitting an animal on the roadway. The truck hit and went through the guide rails and rolled onto its right side as it went down an embankment. While Edward Byas was able to get out, his passenger Wilma Gunther, also of Milwalkee, sustained a moderate injury and had to be taken to Dubois-Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The Oliver Township fire company had a busy month of June, including two fires in one day. At last night's Oliver Township Supervisors Meeting, the fire report showed the two fires on the same day to be one on St. John's Church Road and the other on Sprankle Mills road. Also of import, the supervisors approved the placement of equipment for the Coolspring Playground. They also decided their contribution to the playground is paying liability insurance, mowing and upkeep on an as-needed basis.

A relay race this weekend in Downtown Punxsutawney will have people wolfing down pizza and running for a good cause. In conjunction with the Punxsy Relay for Life this Saturday, Scott Anthony of Fox's Pizza Den and Jim Dunlap of JD's Diamond Training will be holding the first ever Punxsy Pizza Relay Race. Dunlap, a cancer survivor himself, calls thsi a great way to have fun and raise funds for the American Cancer ciety. The race will be a 4/10ths of a mile relay where people will have to run and eat pizza at the same time. They have to finish the slice they are working on before passing the pizza off to the next runner. Anthony, who recently learned that his mom has been diagnosed with cancer, said that this relay will be more meaningful for him and his family. This year, the relay will consist of 5 teams of first responders racing to see who is the fastest and who can raise the most money for the American Cancer Society. The race will start at 4:00 PM at the Groundhog Zoo.
